Q: How to replace the rear wiper motor assembly on Toyota 4Runner?
A:
The first step to install the new rear wiper motor assembly requires users to remove the back door trim board together with the back door service hole cover LH. To begin the process remove the rear wiper arm head cap after releasing its 4 claws while using the nut to detach the rear wiper arm. The next step is to remove the rear wiper motor grommet and the rear wiper motor assembly through the process of taking out the 2 grommets and 3 bolts while using a clip remover to detach the clamp and disconnecting the connector. Follow the installation process by attaching the rear wiper motor assembly using 3 bolts which should be torqued to 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf). After that, install the clamp and reconnect the connector. Place the rear wiper motor grommet with the position mark on top. To install the rear wiper arm you must first remove the serration part with a round file before cleaning the rear wiper pivot serration with a wire brush then stopping the automatic stop position of the rear wiper motor assembly. Attach the arm & blade assembly with its nut at position "A" on the slider before tightening the nut at 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) torque at position "B" of the slider. Keep holding down the assembly while doing so. You should steady the arm hinge when turning the nut. Complete the process by positioning the arm & blade assembly in the rise-up position and check the wiping operation with water or washer fluid before installing the back door service hole cover LH.
Q: How to service the front wiper motor on Toyota Tacoma?
A:
Start your front wiper motor service by disconnecting the negative battery cable from the terminal. Cut off the head caps using a taped screwdriver on each wiper and remove front wiper arm LH through automatic stop following motor operation before extracting the nut and arm. Rephrase the actual steps to uncouple the second wiper arm from the right front position. Loosen all claws on the left side of the front fender to cowl side seal and perform the same steps on the right side. Unplug the 2 connectors and remove 15 claws from the exposed parts to take out the ventilation louver sub-assembly. Disconnect the connector and remove the 2 bolts to take out the windshield wiper motor and link assembly. Slide the wiper link assembly to the passenger side until the rubber pin no longer meshes before removal. To access the front wiper motor you need to disengage the rods through the crank arm pivot by pressing with a taped narrow screwdriver and unscrew both "Torx" T30 motor bolts. Put Denso No. 50 grease on the crank arm pivot and fasten the wiper motor with 2 screws at 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm). Set the wiper motor assembly on top of the crank arm and push the pins into place before fixing the link assembly with 2 bolts at 5.5 N.m then reconnect the components. Insert the cowl ventilator louver parts by fitting all 15 claws plus 2 clips. Next position and click both front fender seals to cowl sides. To install the wiper arms front apply a file to remove metal powder from rod-shaped shapes and brush clean the wiper pivot surface. Tighten wiper arm nuts to 21 N.m torque (209 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) when holding down the arm pivot area. Test operation of the front wipers using both water and washer fluid before you fasten the cable to the negative terminal of the battery at 3.9 N.m (40 kgf.cm, 35 in.lbf). Afterwards, connect the molded headcaps to the wiper arms using the claws.
