Q: How to remove the front wiper motor on Toyota 4Runner?
A:
Beginning front wiper motor removal requires a small screwdriver to remove the front wiper arm head caps while taping the screwdriver tip. In the following steps stop the wiper operation when reaching automatic position before unscrewing the nuts from both right-hand side and left-hand side front wiper arms. After unclipping the part use two tools to disengage the claws allowing you to remove the front fender to cowl side seal from the left side followed by a repetition of the process on the right side. To remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly the technician must first remove the 2 clips followed by disengaging 6 clips using a clip remover and finishing by taking out 9 claws. The windshield wiper link requires removal through disconnecting its connector followed by bolts removal. The wiper link assembly can slide to the passenger side where it will disengage the rubber pin mesh. Use a screwdriver to activate the meshing of 2 rods at the clank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly before removing the 2 bolts to extract the windshield wiper motor assembly.
Q: How to install the rear wiper motor assembly on Toyota 4Runner?
A:
Install the rear wiper motor assembly by fastening it with 3 bolts while applying 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf) torque and then secure the clamp before connector connection. The rear wiper motor grommet needs to be installed while its position mark faces upward direction. The serration part of the rear wiper arm needs to be scraped using a round file before cleaning the rear wiper pivot serration with a wire brush. Remain at the automatic stop position of the rear wiper motor assembly while placing the slider at position "A" and conduct a temporary installation of the arm & blade assembly with the nut. At slider position "B" tighten the nut to connect the arm & blade assembly using a torque of 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf). When tightening the nut it helps to use your hand for stabilizing the arm hinge. Moving the rising arm position back into place completes the arm & blade assembly setup before checking the wiping performance while testing for contact between the wiper and vehicle structure. The last installation step involves putting on the back door service hole cover at the left-hand side.
