How to adjust the shift cable on 2002 through 2008 Toyota Solara?

Every time the shift lever inside the vehicle is shifted from the Neutral position to any other position, it should shift in and out into the selected position satisfyingly and correctly with corresponding gear position on the shift indicator. If the chosen indicator is incorrect, lift the car and safely place it on jackstands and then unbolt the splash shields that protects the front part of the car to the lower crossmember. Subsequently, classify the swivel nut that is located at the manual shift lever in the transaxle and then unscrew it slightly. Shift the manual lever down to Park and then back up to the Neutral position and adjust the shift lever inside the car to the Neutral before tightening the swivel nut. With rotating the knob slightly in the direction of the REVERSE, properly fasten the swivel nut and check the function of the transaxle with shift lever positions for the starter's function whereby it should only be operative in the Park and Neutral positions. For replacement, free off the cable from the manual lever and dismantle the large C-clip cable retainer situated on the bracket that is above the manual lever. Take out the center console and unscrew the cable housing retainer on the inside of the floor of the car, next carefully twis the flange of the cable end to release the clips and then pry the cable eye off the shifter pin. Remove the cable eye from shift lever pin and take the cable through the floored hole. Upon completion, one needs to adjust the cable and installation is carried out in the opposite sequence to that of removal.
