The first step to remove the A750E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE for Floor Shift Type involves the removal of FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH for Regular Cab and Double Cab, CrewMax configurations as well as COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH. Proceed by first taking out the LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH and then the SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY followed by UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY and UPPER REAR CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY and CONSOLE REAR END PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY. The workshop requires removal of CONSOLE BOX CARPET, REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY, and FRONT CONSOLE BOX in succession. The procedure to detach the TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY requires positioning the shift lever to N and removing the cable end from the shift lever before removing the clip between the cable and shift lever retainer followed by the nut and clip between the cable and automatic transmission. A procedure requires the removal of the nut to separate the cable support while its necessary to remove 2 bolts for pulling the column shift transmission control cable within the vehicle interior.

The first step of installing the transmission control cable assembly for the A750E automatic transmission/transaxle begins with inserting the floor shift transmission control cable from inside the vehicle while using 2 bolts to secure the cable retainer which needs a torque setting of 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf). You should then connect the cable outer component to the shift lever retainer before adding a brand new clip. Connect the shift lever control cable end while positioning the inner cable without twisting and maintaining the upward orientation of the ridged cable end. Next set the control shaft lever counterclockwise until it stops and continue clockwise rotation for two notches to reach the N position. After that install the new clip and nut but position the cable L bracket toward the inside of the vehicle. Then fix the transmission control cable support with another nut while torquing both nuts to 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf). The installation of the front console box assembly must be completed while performing inspections and required adjustments to the shift lever position.

The procedure to uninstall the Column Shift Type A750E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE begins with disconnecting the negative battery cable followed by a 90-second period of wait time to avoid activating Air Bag and seat belt pretensioners. There are two steps in this procedure starting with FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH removal that depends on Regular Cab or Double Cab followed by COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH extraction. The method starts by removing the LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH and both the NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD INSERT followed by the CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT COVER. Take out the STEERING PAD regardless of its switch type before handling the STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY and LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER and UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER. Differentiate between Power Seat Type and Manual Seat Type before proceeding to remove the FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH. Finally, to disconnect the COLUMN SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY, move the shift lever to the N position, roll up the floor carpet on the front LH side, disconnect the cable end from the column shift, press the outer cable socket's claws to disconnect it from the steering column shaft bracket, remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 cable clamps, then remove the nut and clip to disconnect the cable from the automatic transmission, followed by removing the nut to disconnect the cable support, and finally, remove the 2 bolts to take out the column shift transmission control cable toward the vehicle interior.

Attach the cable outer to the shift lever retainer and install a new clip.

Remove the clip to disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

Adjust and inspect the shift lever position.

Ensure the inner cable is not twisted and the ridged side of the cable end is facing upward.

Proceed to install the front console box, rear console box assembly, console box carpet, rear console end panel sub-assembly, rear upper console panel sub-assembly, upper console panel sub-assembly, shift lever knob sub-assembly, lower instrument panel finish panel sub-assembly LH, cowl side trim board LH, and front door scuff plate LH for both Double Cab, CrewMax, and Regular Cab configurations.
