  Start transmitting the U760F automatic transmission / transaxle control cable assembly by placing the park/neutral position switch and shift lever into neutral position. Pass the control cable from the cabin to the engine compartment before installing the NO. 2 shift cable grommet retainer using 2 bolts which need to be torqued to 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf). Pull the transmission control cable through the dash grommet into the engine compartment until complete cable insertion against the dash grommet occurs. The transmission control cable must have its outer end fastened by a nut torque setting at 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) to join a new clip installed at the control shaft lever. The installation sequence requires the placement of the air cleaner case sub-assembly followed by installing the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly then the air cleaner cap sub-assembly followed by the inlet air cleaner assembly before the cool air intake duct seal and the instrument panel reinforcement assembly with the air conditioning unit are added. Inspect and readjust the shift lever position when needed as the last step.

The first step to start the project begins with removal of the cool air intake duct seal followed by the inlet air cleaner assembly and air cleaner cap sub-assembly before proceeding to the air cleaner filter element sub-assembly followed by the air cleaner case sub-assembly. Start removal of the transmission control cable assembly by first removing the clip followed by disconnecting it from the No. 1 control cable bracket. Remove the nut and separate the assembly from the control shaft lever and then the No. 2 transmission control cable bracket respectively. Remove the carpet next then unscrew the two bolts which leads to the transmission control cable assembly extraction from the body.
