Toyota Venza Cylinder Head Gasket Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to install the cylinder head gasket on Toyota Venza?
    A:
Inspect the cylinder head bolt while preparing its installation with the cylinder head sub-assembly. Pack a continuous Toyta Genuine or Three Bond 1207B/black equivalent seal material with 3.0 to 7.0 mm (0.118 to 0.276 in.) width and 3.0 mm (0.118 in.) thickness that extends at least 20 mm (0.787 in.) inside the cylinder block protrusion. Apply the gasket within three minutes while placing the front face of the Lot No. stamp pointing up. Install the bolts within fifteen minutes after you finish the seal packing. First, mount the cylinder head onto the cylinder block by checking that the mounting surfaces remain free of oil before making a gentle placement to protect the gasket. Place the plate washers onto the cylinder head bolts while applying engine oil to the threads and bolt heads. Use a 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench to tighten the 10 bolts in specific order until they reach 36 Nm (367 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf) torque. Initial bolt tightening should be followed by two more torque rounds where the sequence remains the same and the bolt-end paint markings should look toward the rear. Cleaning off any leaking seal packing requires immediate attention but wait at least four hours before engine start-up while not applying oil. Introduce a light layer of engine oil onto the valve stem endings before installing the 16 valve caps avoiding any cap loss into the cylinder head. Installation requires the Camshafts followed by the Intake Manifold and the connection of No. 2 ventilation hose and then the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly, Throttle Body assembly, exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly before finally installing the engine assembly with transaxle.
  • Q: How to remove the cylinder head gasket on Toyota Venza?
    A:
The first step for cylinder head gasket removal involves removing both engine assembly and transaxle. The service process needs detachment of exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly after which technicians need to separate Throttle Body assembly and fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly. Disconnection of the No. 2 ventilation hose must take place before the removal of the Intake Manifold. Secondly the Camshaft must be removed after dismounting the camshafts. You should take out the 16 valve stem caps from the cylinder head but you must properly arrange all the removed pieces. The 10 mm bi-hexagon wrench should be used to loosely bolt the specified sequence order before removing 10 cylinder head bolts and plate washers separately without letting washers fall into the cylinder head because that could both warp and crack the head. The last step requires removal of the cylinder head gasket from the cylinder block.
