How to Service and Repair the Camshaft Position Sensor on Toyota 4Runner?

Service of the Camshaft Position Sensor begins with removing the No.2 timing belt cover. Remove the camshaft position sensor connectors before removing its bolts and extracting the sensor. Move on to disconnect the cord clamp which attaches to the No.3 timing belt cover. The installation process requires hooking up the cord clamp to the timing belt cover but the camshaft position sensor needs to be bolted in position with 7.8 Nm torque (80 kg.cm, 69 in.lb) and the sensor must be connected again. In the end step you should replace the No.2 timing belt cover.

How to Replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Toyota Tacoma?

A mechanic needs to start the Camshaft Position Sensor replacement by removing the No.2 timing belt cover. Start by disconnecting the sensor connector and afterward unscrewing the bolt until you can remove the camshaft position sensor. Legally install a new sensor followed by the bolt while torquing its installation to a 7.8 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lbf). Then continue by reattaching the sensor connector. The last action requires the installation of the No.2 timing belt cover.
