You have to service the timing chain remove the power steering link, front differential carrier, and drain fluids. Unscrew a range of parts such as the battery, V-bank cover and air cleaner. Take out the timing gear case, clean up timing marks and fit the new chain. Make sure that all parts are reassembled, inspect ignition timing, and verify the lack of leakage.

How to remove and install the timing chain on Toyota Tacoma?

To dismantle the timing chain, drain engine oil, take off engine under cover and on 4WD models, disconnect front differential and drive shafts. Disassemble several parts such as the cylinder head assembly, A/C compressor and timing chain cover. Check and change components, as necessary, then reassemble all components, making sure they fit in correctly and work.
