Engine Mount Torque Strut is actually a small bar that has rubber bushings and is attached to the powertrain connecting it to the chassis, the primary function of this item being to restrict the roll of the engine during acceleration or braking to ensure that the shafts and exhaust lines are aligned properly. In order to replace an old unit, first, unload the Toyota on a level surface, clamp down the brake, and hold up the engine with a jack and a wood block. Hack off any plastic shields that may be there, to find yourself at the old Engine Mount Torque Strut, and mark its direction, and then loosen and remove its fasteners. Install the new Engine Mount Torque Strut by sliding with bushings facing in the same direction, install all bolts with your hands and tighten them in a sequence through a torque wrench. Reinstall any brackets, reduce the support, and make a brief drive, listening to the car, to be sure it is well attached.
