In order to change the oil pump, disconnect the battery, take off the front wheel and engine under cover, drain oil and coolant, and remove other assemblies such as the vane pump, generator. Position the No. 1 cylinder to TDC and then pull off the crankshaft pulley and timing parts and finally pull off the oil pump assembly.

How to install the oil pump assembly on Toyota RAV4?

The following steps are used to install the oil pump assembly of the 2AZ-FE lubrication system starting with a new gasket and attaching the oil pump using three bolts with a torque of 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf). Next, fit the chain sub-assembly according to timing components instruction to service and repair timing chain.
