Q: How to service the Exhaust Valve and Intake Valve clearance on Toyota Solara?
A: Service the valve clearance by first taking off components at the front wheel RH, front fender apron seal RH, engine No.1 cover sub-assembly, spark plug, ventilation hoses, engine wire, and cylinder head cover sub-assembly. Disconnect the engine wire harness clamp then remove 8 bolts and 2 nuts plus the cylinder head cover and gasket using these components. Turn the crankshaft until the teeth of its pulley fit into TDC position of the timing chain cover at number 0 timing mark while having both camshaft timing gear and sprocket timing marks match bearing caps No. 1 to No. 2 marks. To install the part you should wipe any oil from contact areas before placing seal packing (Part No. 08826-00080 or equivalent) according to provided locations. Replace the cylinder head cover within 5 minutes after packing application. The engine must remain off for more than two hours before starting after you install the new parts. Fasten the cylinder head cover with all 10 bolts while tightening them to 11 Nm at 110 kgf-cm or 8 ft. lbs. Afterward, secure the spark plug using 19 Nm torque at 194 kgf-cm or 14 ft. lbs. Reinstall the ride-hand front wheel lastly check for oil leaks.
