- Q: How to install the clutch master cylinder assembly on Scion tC?A:The clutch master cylinder assembly requires 2 nuts to secure it with an 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) torque specification. Install the hole pin through the clevis bush contact surface and into the clutch pedal before placing the clevis from the right side install along with using a clip to secure it properly. Apply Special Service Tool: 09023-00101 to connect the clutch master cylinder to the flexible hose tube while torquing it to 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf). Then attach the clutch reservoir tube to the master cylinder using the clip so the red mark points upward. Position the brake booster assembly together with the brake master cylinder sub-assembly in place. Complete the brake system air removal by first bleeding the brake line followed by the clutch pipe line while filling the brake reservoir with brake fluid and torquing it to 8.4 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 in-lbf). Test and modify the brake pedal height before inspecting and readjusting the clutch pedal sub-assembly. Both brake and clutch systems should undergo fluid leak inspections before checking the reservoir fluid level.
- Q: How to install the clutch master cylinder assembly on Scion xB?A:The clutch master cylinder assembly installation requires two nuts to be tightened at 13 Nm torque (129 kgf-cm or 9 ft-lbf). The installation of the flexible hose tube should be done with a union nut wrench under 15 Nm torque (154 kgf-cm, 11 ft-lbf) without wrench use or 14 Nm torque (143 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf) with wrench use. Note that the desired torque value is achievable with torque wrenches offering 300 mm (11.8 in.) and 22 mm (0.886 in.) lengths for their fulcrum and that the union nut wrench must be parallel to the torque wrench. After placing the clutch reservoir tube correctly against the clutch master cylinder use the clip for attachment while verifying that the tube remains untwisted and the white mark points upward. A lubricating application of MP grease must be done on both the pin and clevis bush contact surfaces before attaching the clutch pedal to the clevis using the pin and clip by inserting the pin from the right side of the vehicle. As a final step install the clip onto the pin before you move forward with brake booster assembly installation and a subsequent examination and adjustment of the clutch pedal sub-assembly.
