- Q: How to service and repair the Canister Purge Valve on Scion tC?A:A necessary first step before servicing or repairing the Canister Purge Valve is disconnecting the negative battery cable while waiting for a minimum of 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag activation and seat belt pretensioner functions. Service of the purge VSV commences by detaching its connector before removing the wire harness clamp that enables two purge line hoses to detach from the vacuum switching valve leading to purge VSV removal from the air cleaner hose. Install the purge VSV by placing it on the air cleaner hose then attach the two purge line hoses properly while repositioning the clip and mark correctly and reinstall the wire harness clamp before reconnecting the purge VSV connector. The completion process requires the connection of the cable to the negative battery terminal while initializing system operations since some systems need access through negative battery terminal switching.
