Scion tC Canister Purge Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to install the Canister Purge Valve on Scion tC?
    A:
The installation process for the Canister Purge Valve assembly begins with attaching it to the air cleaner hose while carefully securing both purge line hoses to the assembly with correct hose clip alignment at installation. After that position the wire harness clamp then join the connector ends. After reconnecting the cable always check that certain systems need initialization procedures before continuing.
  • Q: How to service and repair the Canister Purge Valve on Scion tC?
    A:
One must disconnect the cable from the negative terminal and wait for at least 90 seconds to stop Air Bag and seat belt pretensioner activation before continuing with service or repair of the Canister Purge Valve. The purge VSV requires removal which means disconnecting its connector then removing the wire harness clamp followed by releasing the two purge line hoses from the vacuum switching valve until the purge VSV becomes accessible from the air cleaner hose. Installation requires insertion of the purge VSV onto the air cleaner hose followed by connection of the purge line hoses where the hose clip and mark should maintain the correct installation angle before installation of the wire harness clamp followed by reconnecting the purge VSV connector. Following reconnection of the cable to the negative battery terminal you should initiate system processes due to requirements from specific components triggered by cable removal and reappling.
