Toyota Sienna Wheel Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the rear wheel bearing on Toyota Sienna?
A: Start the service and repair process of rear wheel bearings by detaching the rear wheel while applying 104 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 77 ft. lbs.) of torque. Inspect the bearing backlash together with the axle hub deviation after you remove the brake drum. A dial indicator positioned around the center of the axle hub should measure shaft backlash in the bearing direction; the maximum acceptable measurement is 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) yet exceeds replacement of the bearing. The spectrum for dial indicator measurements at the axle hub surface outside the hub bolt stands at 0.07 mm (0.0028 inch) and break this limit for removal of both the bearing and axle hub. The first step is to disconnect the ABS speed sensor and then remove the rear axle hub by unthreading its 4 nuts while applying 80 Nm of torque (820 kgf-cm, 59 ft. lbs.). To install the components follow the opposite removal process while testing the ABS speed sensor signal after finishing installation.
