The rear wheel hub and bearing 4WD repair process must start with an on-vehicle inspection where technicians verify rear wheel hub bearing backlash using a dial gauge which must be angled correctly to the measurement surface and any backlash above 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) requires new replacement of the wheel hub assembly. The assessment for wheel hub surface replacement requires a dial gauge set right angles to measure areas outside the hub bolt with 0.07 mm (0.0027 inch) maximum deviation being the threshold. The process to remove rear components starts with taking off the wheel followed by unscrewing the LH shaft nut before separating the disc brake caliper assembly using the 2 bolts. Start by uninstalling the bolt which secures the speed sensor rear LH while taking necessary precautions to protect it from damage or contaminant attachment. Proceed to separate the speed sensor rear LH. Remove the rear drive shaft assembly LH before finishing with the rear wheel hub and bearing assembly LH by detaching the 4 bolts. Installation begins with installing the rear wheel hub & bearing assembly LH using its 4 bolts that need to be torqued to 56 Nm (571 kg-cm, 41 ft. lbs.). Later check for bearing backlash and wheel hub deviation. The next installation step should include placing the rear drive shaft assembly LH followed by installation of the speed sensor rear LH before securing each component with a bolt which requires 8.0 Nm (82 kg-cm, 71 inch lbs.) torque. Keep the sensor wire free from damage during this process. You should start by fitting the rear disc followed by the rear disc brake caliper assembly LH that receives two bolts torqued to 88 Nm (900 kg-cm, 65 ft. lbs.). Then add the rear wheel shaft LH nut and secure the rear wheel by torquing it to 103 Nm (1,050 kg-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). The last step is to verify the ABS speed sensor signal output for the ABS with EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC system.

Torque the caliper bolts to 104 Nm (1,060 kg-cm, 77 ft. lbs.).

Install the rear wheel with a torque of 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.) and check the ABS speed sensor signal for both ABS with EBD system and ABS with EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC system.

Check the ABS speed sensor signal for the ABS with EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC system.

Torque them to 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft. lbs.).

Check the ABS speed sensor signal for the ABS with EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC system.

Take out the four bolts.
