    Q:
How to service and repair the front Wheel Hub on Toyota Solara? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repair of the front wheel hub begins with removing the front wheel and front wheel hub LH nut through the use of Special Service Tool: 09930-00010. The separation procedure involves removing two bolts from the speed sensor front LH and front disc brake caliper assembly LH while using a string device or similar tool to secure the brake caliper from swinging because of the flexible hose. Start the procedure by taking out the front disc and then separating the tie rod assembly LH with Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 before proceeding with the front suspension arm subassembly lower No.1 LH. Use a plastic hammer on the front drive shaft assembly LH to dissociate it from the front wheel hub subassembly LH while maintaining boot and speed sensor rotor integrity before removing the 2 bolts and nuts and steering knuckle LH with its front wheel hub subassembly LH. Use Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to uninstall the front lower ball joint assembly front LH while removing its nut and cotter pin. Use a screwdriver to detent the front wheel hub LH bearing dust deflector No.1 LH and follow by using snap ring pliers to extract the front wheel hub LH hole snap ring. Remove the front wheel hub subassembly LH through Special Service Tool: 09520-00031. After that, press in the bearing inner race (outside) from the front wheel hub subassembly LH using Special Service Tools: 09950-00020, 09950-60010 (09951-00430) and 09950-70010 (09951-07100) along with a press. You must take the 4 T30 torx bolts from the disc brake dust cover front LH to eliminate it. Press the bearing inner race (outside) onto the front wheel hub LH bearing until it touches Special Service Tool: 09527-17011, 09950-60010 (09951-00600), and 09950-70010 (09951-07100) as you maintain the steering knuckle LH in horizontal position and fixed to a V block. To begin installation use Special Service Tool: 09950-60020 (09951-00810), 09950-70010 (09951-07100) along with a press to install the front wheel hub LH bearing. Screw in the four bolts on the disc brake dust cover front LH and torque them to 8.3 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 73 inch lbs.). Follow this sequence to install the front wheel hub subassembly LH with Special Service Tool: 09608-32010, 09950-60020 (09951-00810), 09950-70010 (09951-07100) and a press which must be followed by the new front wheel hub LH hole snap ring installation using snap ring pliers. The technician should install bearing dust deflector No.1 LH using Special Service Tools 09316-60011 (09316-00011, 09316-00031), 09608-32010 and a hammer to ensure proper placement of the speed sensor hole with the steering knuckle. The front LH lower ball joint assembly requires a 123 Nm (1250 kgf-cm, 91 ft. lbs.) torque on the nut after which a fresh cotter pin should be installed and the nut may need readjustment if necessary. The front wheel assembly LH must be installed to the shock absorber assembly front LH through the usage of two bolts and two nuts that require a torque of 210 Nm (2140 kgf-cm, 155 ft. lbs.). Apply engine oil to the screw part of the nuts whenever using them again. The service order begins with the installation of the front suspension arm subassembly lower No.1 LH while moving to the tie rod assembly LH installation before installing the front disc and front disc brake caliper assembly LH while torquing the caliper assembly bolts to 107 Nm (1090 kgf-cm, 79 ft. lbs.). Use the socket wrench (30 mm) to install the front wheel hub nut LH and torque it to 294 Nm (3000 kgf-cm, 217 ft. lbs.). Afterwards stake it with a chisel and hammer before installing the front wheel at 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.). Front wheel alignment needs to be inspected for adjustments and the speed sensor signal for ABS must be checked.
