2000 Toyota Sienna Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service and repair the wheel bearing on 2000 Toyota Sienna?
A: The first step in wheel bearing service requires you to remove the lower ball joint through these steps: start by unscrewing the dust deflector with a screwdriver after which you remove the cotter pin and nut followed by using Special Service Tool: 09628-62011 to disconnect the lower ball joint. Extract the axle hub by using Special Service Tool: 09520-00031 followed by inserting Special Service Tools: 09555-55010 and 09950-60010 and 09950-70010 (09951-07100) into a pressing device to remove the inner race component from the axle hub assembly. A T30 torx wrench is required to remove the dust cover by unfastening its 4 bolts. To extract the bearing from the steering knuckle start with snap ring pliers, then put the inner race outside the bearing before using Special Service Tool: 09310-35010, 09527-17011, and a press to remove the bearing. Reassemble the knuckle by using Special Service Tool: 09608-32010 with a press to install a fresh bearing after which snap ring pliers should be used to install a new snap ring. Secure the dust cover on the bearing by tightening a torx wrench (T30) to 8.3 Nm (85 kgf-cm, 74 inch lbs.). Users should install the front axle hub using Special Service Tool: 09310-35010, 09608-32010, and a press before adding the lower ball joint and tightening its nut to 123 Nm while adding a new cotter pin. The installation of a new dust deflector demands Special Service Tool: 09316-60011 (with alternatives 09316-00011 or 09316-00041) and 09608-32010 along with a hammer for proper alignment of the ABS speed sensor holes with the steering knuckle.
