Start the installation of the u241e automatic transaxle Park/Neutral Position Switch Assembly by positioning the switch onto the manual valve shaft and then fixing it using two bolts. The lock plate installation requires a new nut with 6.9 Nm tightness strength (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf). Set the control shaft lever at the 2 positions clockwise from its stop and remove it. After aligning the groove with the neutral basic line users should hold the switch in position before tightening the two bolts to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). Position the control shaft lever together with its washer and screw it down using a screwdriver which also staked the nut with the lock plate and tighten the fastener to a torque of 13 Nm (132 kgf-cm, 10 ft-lbf). Connect the switch connector. Installation of the transmission control cable assembly requires cable and clip attachment to its bracket followed by a temporary connection of the cable to the lever shaft with the secure nut. The technician must position the engine under cover LH before adjusting the shift lever position for inspection of shift lever alignment. The procedure requires checking of the park/neutral position switch assembly before connecting to the negative battery terminal for performance of initialization activities during which system-specific initialization steps should be noted after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
