The 2AZ-FE ignition system spark plug service and repair process begins with taking off two nuts and the engine cover sub-assembly of the No. 1 position. The service begins by disconnection of 4 ignition coil connectors followed by removal of the 4 bolts along with 4 ignition coils. Finally, remove the 4 spark plugs.

How to service the spark plugs on Scion xD?

Start the 2ZR-FE spark plug service by taking out the No. 2 cylinder head cover by lifting the rear side first to free each of the 2 fittings so that after lifting the front you can completely remove the cover while keeping the rubber grommets on it. If any grommets stick to bolts you should move them to the cover. The service procedure starts with disconnecting the camshaft timing oil control valve connector as well as all 4 ignition coil connectors. After that you must remove the 4 bolts and the 4 ignition coils. Finally, remove the 4 spark plugs.
