    Q:
How to service the spark plugs on Scion xD? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the 2ZR-FE spark plug service by taking out the No. 2 cylinder head cover by lifting the rear side first to free each of the 2 fittings so that after lifting the front you can completely remove the cover while keeping the rubber grommets on it. If any grommets stick to bolts you should move them to the cover. The service procedure starts with disconnecting the camshaft timing oil control valve connector as well as all 4 ignition coil connectors. After that you must remove the 4 bolts and the 4 ignition coils. Finally, remove the 4 spark plugs.

    Q:
How to install the spark plugs and ignition coils on Scion xD? Posted by Customer
    A:
The 2ZR-FE ignition system requires installing spark plugs at a torque force of 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). These spark plugs should be applied to all four units. You should install the 4 bolts to the ignition coils but keep the torque at 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) and avoid damaging the rubber ignition coil tips as you perform installation. Before proceeding install the 4 ignition coil connectors and the camshaft timing oil control valve connector to their respective ports. The process ends with engaging 4 fittings and mounting the No. 2 cylinder head cover by applying constant pressure while making sure the oil filler cap and engine oil level dipstick need to be already installed properly.

    A:
You should start servicing the spark plugs of a 2ZR-FE engine by taking out the No. 2 cylinder head cover. First disconnect each of the four ignition coil connectors before removing the four bolts and four ignition coils while maintaining caution from damaging the plug cap on the engine head cover opening and the upper edge of the spark plug tube. The removal of the 4 spark plugs can be completed using a 14 mm spark plug wrench.
