The first step in servicing the 2ZR-FE ignition coil requires removal of the No. 2 cylinder head cover by disengaging the two fittings on the rear and then the two fittings on the front before completely taking off the cover while keeping the attached rubber grommets in place; carefully transfer any grommets that sit on the bolts to the cover. After detachment of the camshaft timing oil control valve connector and the four ignition coil connectors you should remove the four bolts and finally pull off the four ignition coils. Finish the removal by taking away the four spark plugs.

You can begin the work of putting in the 2ZR-FE engine control ignition coil and spark plugs by installing 4 spark plugs through use of a 14 mm spark plug wrench with a torque setting of 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). The installation of ignition coils requires four bolts where you should torque them to 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf). Avoid causing damage to the plug cap inside the engine head cover opening and to the upper edge of the spark plug tube when performing this task in the installation process. Complete the procedure by connecting the 4 ignition coil connectors before installing the No. 2 cylinder head cover.

The installation process for ignition components on the 2ZR-FE engine begins by torquing the 4 spark plugs to 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). Use the 4 ignition coil bolts to install each coil before tightening them to 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) while maintaining the rubber tips free from damage. Attach the 4 ignition coil connectors as well as the camshaft timing oil control valve connector to the secured ignition coils. To finish the installation, first secure the 4 fittings before you install the No. 2 cylinder head cover with proper pressure application while the oil filler cap and engine oil level dipstick must be already correctly installed.

Installation of the 4 spark plugs on the 2AZ-FE engine control must be done with 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf) of torque after which installation of the 4 ignition coils begins using 4 bolts with 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf) torque followed by connecting the 4 ignition coil connectors. Install 4 ignition coils to their mounting place with 4 bolts while tightening to 9.0 Nm (92 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf) and link all 4 ignition coil connectors. Installing the last part involves fixing the No. 1 engine cover sub-assembly.
