First properly install the two bolts along with the control shaft lever by counterclockwise rotation until it stops then clockwise two notches before removing it temporarily. Use the neutral basic line to position the groove before tightening the two bolts to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs) while holding the switch in place. Begin the installation by using a screwdriver on the nut combined with the lock plate before installing all components including the washer, control shaft lever and nut with a torque setting at 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). The finishing steps include attaching the connector to the park/neutral position switch assembly followed by cable installation to the control shaft lever through the nut which leads to installation of the control cable to the bracket with a new clip. The technician performs a shift lever position check and verifies the park/neutral position switch assembly.

Service and repair of the Transmission Position Switch/Sensor requires starting with the removal of the air cleaner assembly. Begin by disconnecting the park/neutral position switch connector before you disassemble the park/neutral position switch through this sequence: untuck the switch nut then remove the nut together with its washer along with the control shift lever. The next step involves installing a new lock plate alongside its nut which should be torqued to 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 inch lbs.). Then bend the claws of the lock plate to hold the nut before placing the control shift lever with its nut torqued to 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.). Relay the shift control cable to the control shaft while torquing it at 15 Nm (150 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.). Active the park/neutral position switch connector followed by a verification of the finding that the engine must start only after selecting N or P positions. If the operation is not satisfied the adjustment needs to be completed. The final step includes reattaching the air cleaner assembly while performing a test drive of the vehicle.

Remove the nut to disconnect the control cable from the control shaft lever and then remove the clip to disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.

Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with the nut and install the control cable to the bracket with a new clip. Finally, adjust and inspect the shift lever position and the park/neutral position switch assembly.

Reinstall the battery, adjust the shift lever position, and inspect both the shift lever position and the park/neutral position switch assembly.

Remove the switch by taking off the nut, followed by the nut, washer, and control shift lever.

First disconnect the battery, then remove the transmission control cable assembly by detaching the control cable from the control shaft lever and the bracket. Next, disconnect the connector from the park/neutral position switch, remove the nut, washer, and control shaft lever, pry out the lock washer, and take off the manual valve shaft nut before pulling out the switch.

Apply a torque of 15 Nm (150 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.).

Install a new lock plate and nut with a torque of 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 inch lbs.), then bend the claws on the lock plate to secure the nut.
