How to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor on Scion tC?

In order to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, drain the coolant and unconnect battery. Install Special Service Tool: 09817-33190, remove the old sensor and install a new gasket on the new sensor, then torque sensor to 19.6 N. m. , reconnect sensor and battery and apply coolant and check leakage.

How to service the Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch for the computer on Scion xB?

To service the Coolant Temperature Sensor, disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 90 seconds. Remove the air cleaner assembly, disconnect the engine wire, and sensor connector. Replace the sensor and gasket, torque to 20 N.m, then reconnect everything and restore power to the battery.
