In order to disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor in the 2AZ-FE engine, empty the coolant and disconnect the negative battery terminal, allowing 90 seconds to elapse, to prevent Air Bag activation. Next, remove the sensor connector and special service tool 09817-33190 to take the sensor and gasket out.
