Scion ABS Relay supplies are steady power flow to the anti lock brake module and enables drivers to retain steering control during sudden stops. Scion gained its fame because of its young image, bright colors and a shopping experience that did not include haggling and allowed the customers to feel like they are in control. In the Virtual Scion City campaign and small Release Series runs, Scion never explored any idea without pursuing it and each model was like the blank canvas to personalize it. Their small size were easy to park and Toyota engineering was silent in providing long term reliability, attracting more than a million largely first time owners before the nameplate was retired in 2016, although the Scion level of creative spirit is still felt in current car culture trends. ABS Relay itself is a little cube-shaped switch, which feeds the pump and controller in the event of failure, the ABS light remains on. To replace a broken ABS Relay, one will not need much except common domestic tools and time. Stop on flat, raise the parking brake, and remove the negative battery cable, or shorts may occur. Open the fuse/relay box that is normally located close to the firewall and find the ABS Relay with a label. Using a grip, straight up, not prying to break the socket open then examine terminals on the old piece are rusty. Install the corresponding new unit firmly until a click is observed, re-attach the battery, use the key, make sure the warning light blows out, and finally, test on the road slowly but surely including a hard stop that is not in control to ensure regular ABS pulsing.
