The Scion Overload Relay is a small motor protection that measures the current and heat and then instantly cuts the power supply when limits are exceeded, preventing expensive burnouts. Born in 2003, Scion terrified the sleepy compact segment by taking haggling out of the equation and bold personality and cramming them into tiny footprints. Fixed pricing allowed anyone to walk in and point at a vibrant series of releases and walk out without the usual sales pitch circus. Factory options came in themed bundles so Scion buyers mixed color matched wheels, illuminated badges, and premium stereos as easily as changing sneakers. To install an Overload Relay and ensure that the motor is safe, you will need to first disconnect the battery and verify that every wire is dead. Select an Overload Relay that corresponds to the motor plate in amperage with just enough room for the initial surge. Mount it tight next to the starter, slip line and load conductors into the numbered slots, then tighten screws until the copper stops wiggling. Spin the set knob to the trip value chosen and snap on the cover, power up and do a quick start stop to see the Overload Relay pop if pushed too hard.
