2010 Toyota Yaris Clock Spring Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the Clock Spring Assembly / Spiral Cable on 2010 Toyota Yaris?
A: Begin the Clock Spring Assembly / Clock Spring removal by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal followed by removing the steering pad with "TORX" socket wrench T30, steering pad movement, unlocking the button with a thin-bladed screwdriver to disconnect the 2 Air Bag connectors and detach the horn connector. The steering wheel assembly needs removal first then move onto the steering column cover by removing its 3 screws and unfastening its 2 claws located on both upper and lower components. The process of removing the clock spring without VSC starts by detaching the horn connector followed by sliding the slider to unplug the Air Bag connector while disengaging the three claws. To remove the clock spring from the VSC configuration the technician must detach the horn connector while moving the slider to free the Air Bag connector then disconnect the steering sensor connector before freeing the cable through the 3 claws. Disassemble the steering sensor when handling the clock spring through the removal of its 6 claws followed by extraction from the cable.
