The installation of the clock spring should start when the
Ignition Switch is OFF and the negative terminal is removed but the installer needs to wait at least 90 seconds. Verify that the front wheels are aligned as you check to ensure the turn signal switch maintains a neutral stance for preventing breakage to the signal pin. You must install the clock spring by using the three claws while pulling the lock pin before installing the steering wheel when you replace the old clock spring with new one. The installation continues by attaching the Air Bag connector alongside the horn connector. Juxtapose both upper and lower covers by engaging their respective two claws prior to tightening the three screws. After locking the clock spring by counterclockwise rotation you should turn it clockwise 2.5 times to position the center indicators correctly. Fasten the steering wheel assembly while joining the horn and Air Bag connectors to match the Air Bag connector color with the steering pad assembly and make sure the locking button demonstrates complete safety. Install the steering pad using a "Torx" socket wrench T30 and tighten the 2 bolts until they reach a torque of 8.8 Nm (90 kgf-cm, 78 in-lbf). The negative battery terminal requires the attachment of the cable while achieving a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf). Lastly, check the SRS warning light.
