    A: The first step to remove the Knock Sensor from the 1NZ-FE engine control system requires disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. The first step includes draining engine coolant followed by removing the cylinder head cover Number 2. The removal of the air cleaner cap sub-assembly with air cleaner hose No. 1 follows this step. Close the water by-pass hose along with water by-pass hose No. 2. Begin by removing the throttle with motor body assembly and progressing to the intake manifold removal requiring disconnection of the engine wire harness and water by-pass hose No. 2 and ventilation hose and union to connector tube hose. The final elimination steps consist of removing 3 bolts and 2 nuts before removing the gasket from the intake manifold. The knock sensor completion requires removing its connector along with the nut to withdraw it.
