2008 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the knock sensor on 2008 Toyota Highlander?
A: The process of removing a knock sensor from the 2GR-FE engine control system starts with the removal of engine under cover assembly followed by removing the No.1 engine under cover. The first step for knock sensor removal from a 2GR-FE engine control system requires draining engine coolant and clearing fuel system pressure. The front wiper arm and blade assembly of both sides must be removed first followed by the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly then the windshield wiper motor and link assembly and finally the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly. You must detach both the V-bank cover sub-assembly and the air cleaner cap sub-assembly next. Begin by cutting off the engine room main wire while also removing the throttle body bracket together with the No. 1 surge tank stay. Follow the procedure until you have taken away both the intake air surge tank assembly and the No. 2 engine mounting stay from the right-hand side. Terminate the fuel main tube attachment and extract the intake manifold from the vehicle. The process ends with disconnecting knock control sensor connectors, bolt removal and retrieving both knock control sensors.
