- Q: How to remove the Neutral Safety Switch from the U151E automatic transaxle on 2008 Toyota Highlander?A: The process to uninstall the neutral safety switch from U151E automatic transaxle begins with disconnecting the battery cable from the negative terminal and waiting 90 seconds to deactivate air bags and seat belts. The service technician should disconnect the positive terminal battery first before proceeding to remove the battery alongside cool air intake duct seal and the air cleaner components starting from NO. 2 air cleaner inlet to NO. 1 air cleaner inlet, air cleaner cap sub-assembly, air cleaner filter element sub-assembly, air cleaner case sub-assembly and air cleaner bracket. The transmission control cable assembly can be separated by taking off the control shaft lever nut then detaching cables from both control shaft lever and control cable bracket while maintaining the resin guide pipe. To extract the park/neutral position switch assembly start by disconnecting the switch connector before removing the nut followed by washer then control shaft lever. Proceed to use a screwdriver for prying up the lock plate before uninstalling the lock nut and lock plate. Eventually remove the two bolts to extract the park/neutral position switch.
