The initial step to separate the Neutral Safety Switch from the U760E automatic transaxle involves disconnecting the negative battery cable while remembering that system initialization might be needed upon reconnecting. First detach the cool air intake duct seal followed by a separation of front wiper arm and blade assemblies from both left and right sides. After disconnecting the cable from the terminal remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly and windshield
Wiper Motor and link assembly. A technician first separates the ejector tube then removes the sub-assembly of the outer cowl top panel. First remove the sub-assemblies of NO. 1 engine cover along with NO. 2 inlet air cleaner, air cleaner cap, air cleaner filter element, and air cleaner case respectively. To access the park/neutral position switch assembly first place the shift lever at position N. After extending the clip claws remove the transmission control cable assembly and clip from transmission cable bracket and then disconnect the nut and assembly from control shaft lever. Unfreeze the park/neutral position switch connector and clamp before removing its clip which allows you to detach the nut, washer, and control shaft lever from the control shaft. Clean away all dirt and rust from the control shaft installation section before removing its two bolts securing the park/neutral position switch. Pull the switch directly up the shaft to avoid bending the plate spring that supports the shaft because such deformation impairs proper reinstallation.
