Q: How to install the ignition coil and spark plugs on 2008 Toyota Highlander?
A: The proper installation of 2GR-FE engine spark plugs starts with attaching all 6 spark plugs with 18 Nm of torque (183 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf). First install the 6 ignition coils by using the 6 bolts and following up with 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) torque application until the completion of connecting the 6 ignition coil connectors. A torque of 8.3 Nm (84 kgf-cm, 73 in-lbf) should be applied to the 4 bolts [A] as well as the nut [B]. Install the 2 clamps [C]. The up next installation steps include surge tank acquisition followed by No. 1 surge tank stay and throttle body bracket installation. Use proper torque to fully tighten both the No. 1 surge tank stay and the throttle body bracket. After wire connection to the engine room main the technician must install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly followed by the outer cowl top panel sub-assembly, windshield wiper motor and link assembly, cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly, front wiper arm and blade assembly LH and front wiper arm and blade assembly RH. The last steps include V-bank cover sub-assembly installation followed by engine coolant addition for leak inspections before installing No. 1 engine under cover as a part of the engine under cover assembly installation.
