2008 Toyota Highlander Ignition Coil Parts Q&A
Q: How to remove the ignition coil and spark plugs on 2008 Toyota Highlander?
A: The first step to remove ignition coil and spark plugs from the 2GR-FE engine requires two essential removals of the engine under cover assembly and the No.1 engine under cover. You must start by draining the engine coolant before taking out the V-bank cover sub-assembly. The sequence requires starters to remove front wiper assemblies and windshield wiper components then cowl ventilators and windshield wiper motor units before outer cowl top panel sub-assemblies. The procedure starts by eliminating the engine room main wire before getting rid of the throttle body bracket along with the No. 1 surge tank stay and air cleaner cap sub-assembly and intake air surge tank assembly. Take out the ignition coil assembly by unbolting all 4 screws labeled [A] along with removing the nut [B] and disconnecting the two harness clamps labeled [C] and then disconnecting all six ignition coil connectors which leads to removing the total of 6 ignition coil bolts and 6 ignition coils cw. The final step of the process requires removing the six spark plugs.
