2008 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to install the spark plugs and ignition system components on 2008 Toyota Highlander?
A: The installation of spark plugs for the 2GR-FE ignition system requires torquing the 6 spark plugs to 18 Nm (183 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf). You should install the 6 ignition coils by using 6 bolts which require a torque setting of 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf). Start by connecting the 6 ignition coil connectors followed by installing 4 bolts [A] to 8.3 Nm (84 kgf-cm, 73 in-lbf) and nuts [B] at this same torque value. Install the 2 clamps [C]. After which install the intake air surge tank assembly while you temporarily mount the No. 1 surge tank stay before installing the throttle body bracket. Next tighten both the No. 1 surge tank stay along with the throttle body bracket to maximum strength. Connect the main wire from the engine room space before assembling the air cleaner cap and then installing the outer cowl top panel and windshield wiper motor with links and cowl top ventilator louver and front wiper arm and blades for both left and right sides. The last task includes installing the V-bank cover sub-assembly followed by engine coolant addition and V-bank cover leak inspection before installing the No. 1 engine under cover and the engine under cover assembly.
