2007 Toyota Highlander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service the knock sensor on 2007 Toyota Highlander?
A: Service of the knock sensor requires beginning with engine coolant draining. First disconnect the air cleaner cap with the air cleaner hose and the throttle body assembly while undoing the 5 bolts alongside 2 nuts that secure the intake manifold and its gasket. Unplug the sensor connector before uninstalling the sensor together with its retaining nut. The installation requires a new knock sensor fitted with a nut while setting the torque to 20 N.m (199 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) and the sensor should be positioned at a horizontal angle (less than 0 degrees). First connect the sensor connector before installing a new clamp and intake manifold with its 5 bolts and 2 nuts that should be torqued to 30 N.m (305 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf). The engineer must first install the throttle body assembly and the air cleaner cap along with its air cleaner hose. After completing the procedure you must add engine coolant while inspecting for any indication of leakage.
