2008 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the rear Air Bag sensor on 2008 Scion xD?
A: Customers must first disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal before starting their work since SRS Air Bag system service operations could be affected by some procedures. The "TORX" socket wrench E10 will be used for rear seat installation. Both the right hand side and left hand side need to follow this procedure. The first step involves unfastening both the deck board assembly before taking off the No. 1 rear seat leg cover from the RH and LH sides along with the No. 2 cover from the LH side. First strip away the seating assemblies from both sides of the rear compartment followed by removing the rear deck trim cover. The installation of the rear seat requires removing the rear door opening trim Weather Strip from the RH side so access can be gained to the deck trim side panel. Disassemble the rear seat outer belt assembly from the RH side followed directly by the removal of the luggage hold belt striker assembly. Begin by disassembling the deck trim side panel assembly from the right-hand side by unscrewing it first along with disengaging its clips and claws. Before separating the LH side deck trim panel it is essential to disconnect the room light connector. Disconnection of the negative battery terminal enables complete removal of the rear Air Bag sensor through disconnecting the Air Bag connector by sliding the outer housing and then unfastening the bolt and hook.
