2008 Scion xD Spark Plug Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to install the spark plugs and ignition coils on 2008 Scion xD?
A: The 2ZR-FE ignition system requires installing spark plugs at a torque force of 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf). These spark plugs should be applied to all four units. You should install the 4 bolts to the ignition coils but keep the torque at 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf) and avoid damaging the rubber ignition coil tips as you perform installation. Before proceeding install the 4 ignition coil connectors and the camshaft timing oil control valve connector to their respective ports. The process ends with engaging 4 fittings and mounting the No. 2 cylinder head cover by applying constant pressure while making sure the oil filler cap and engine oil level dipstick need to be already installed properly.
