    Q:
How to service the side Air Bag sensor on the LH side on Toyota FJ Cruiser? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step for servicing the LH side Air Bag sensor consists of studying all safety precautions. The cable should disconnect from the negative battery terminal and users must wait at least 90 seconds to stop potential Air Bag deployment. You must unfasten the front door scuff plate LH together with the access door scuff plate LH and the front door opening trim Weather Strip LH to gain access to the side Air Bag sensor LH. The side Air Bag sensor LH needs its connector to be removed and the bolt as well as the sensor to be extracted. The repair work should start only when the ignition switch stands in the OFF position and the negative terminal remains unconnected for 90 seconds. Fasten the side Air Bag sensor LH using the provided bolt while applying a torque of 9.0 N.m corresponding to 92 kgf.cm and 80 in.lbf. One must replace the sensor if it suffers damage or if it drops. Review the position of SRS wiring so it does not scrape any other components while inspecting for loose contacts before attaching the connector to the side Air Bag sensor LH. The installation requires front door opening trim Weather Strip LH together with access door scuff plate LH and front door scuff plate LH. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal while tightening it to 3.9 N.m torque (40 kgf.cm or 35 in.lbf). Systems need initializations following negative battery terminal removal according to specifications before checking SRS warning lights.
