Rear Sensor

The installation of rear Air Bag sensors requires a safe state where you turn the ignition switch to OFF and disconnect the negative battery terminal to stop Air Bag deployment caused by impacts. Toolkit E10 TORX socket wrench should be used for the installation process. Use the hook to insert the sensor into its body hole before tightening the bolt through the use of 9.0 Nm (90 kgf-cm, 80 in-lbf) torque. You should refrain from utilizing a rear Air Bag sensor that has received dropping or any impacts. A test for loose attachment should be performed by shaking the sensor following installation before connecting the Air Bag connector. Attach the combination of 3 clips alongside 6 claws to install the deck trim side panel assembly RH and fasten the screw. The repair procedure for the rear seat outer belt assembly RH includes connecting the room light connector followed by deck trim side panel assembly RH installation. The installation steps include placing the rear door opening trim Weather Strip RH, rear door scuff plate RH, rear deck trim cover, and No. 1 rear seat leg cover LH, and continuing with the rear seat assembly RH, No. 1 rear seat leg cover RH, No. 2 rear seat leg cover LH, deck board assembly, luggage hold belt striker assembly, and rear seat outer belt assembly RH installation sequence. To complete the process connect the cable to the negative battery terminal while tightening it to 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) then check the SRS warning light functionality.

Disconnecting the negative battery cable represents the first step before removing the rear Air Bag sensor for 3 Door models because some service procedures affect SRS Air Bag operations. You should use Torx socket wrench E10 to install the rear seat. This procedure function for each side of the RH in addition to the LH. The first step of removal requires taking out the package tray trim panel assembly before moving to both the deck board sub-assembly and deck floor box components of the RH and LH sides. Start by taking away the rear seat leg covers numbered No. 1 and No. 2 that are used for the 60/40 Split Seat Type followed by extracting all rear seat assemblies from the RH and LH sides as well as separating the rear seat cushion cover pad sub-assembly and rear seatback assembly. The next step includes taking out the front door scuff plate RH together with the front door opening trim Weather Strip RH and the front quarter trim panel assembly RH. First disassemble the rear deck trim cover then detach the rear seat outer belt assembly RH. The RH deck side trim panel assembly requires three screw removal and disablement of three clips and three claws before complete extraction. The process of removing the deck side trim panel assembly LH requires you to disconnect the room light connector. After negative battery terminal disconnection users must slide outer housing away from Air Bag connector and remove bolt while releasing its hook before removing the Air Bag sensor.

Disconnect the room light connector.

The No. 1 rear seat leg cover on both the RH and LH sides, and then the No. 2 rear seat leg cover on the LH side.

Remove the rear seat outer belt assembly RH and the luggage hold belt striker assembly.

Ensure a torque of 17.5 N.m (179 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf).

Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal and check the SRS warning light.

Replace it with a new one.

Remove the rear seat cushion cover pad sub-assembly and the rear seatback assembly.

Shake the sensor to ensure it is secure.

Connect the room light connector.
