The initial step to serve the Air Bag Control Module requires disconnection of the negative battery terminal cable. Start by operating on the manual transaxle shift lever knob sub-assembly and then move to take out the upper console panel and rear console box cover and sub-assembly alongside front console box parts. The center Air Bag sensor assembly becomes accessible only after extraction of these components. Sustaining a severed state of the negative battery terminal represents essential safety practice throughout this procedure since any sensory impact could activate the Air Bag deployment function. The Air Bag sensor requires you to push down on the lever to free the connector holder before unbolting its three screws for complete removal.

The Air Bag Control Module service commencement starts through disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. The servicing process for manual transaxle vehicles starts by uninstalling the shift lever knob sub-assembly followed by removal of the upper console panel and rear console box cover and its sub-assembly and front console box. You should handle the center Air Bag sensor assembly once you remove all other components. Physical impact to the Air Bag sensor or any contact to the negative battery terminal must be avoided while servicing the module because either could result in the Air Bag activating. Cleverly detach the Air Bag sensor by first lowering the lever to expose the connector holder and secondly erasing the three bolts which hold it in position.

Remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly for the manual transaxle.
