The first step to remove the Air Bag Control Module is to disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and wait for 90 seconds to avoid Air Bag deployment before starting the work. The removal procedure for manual transaxle vehicles begins with shifting the shift lever knob sub-assembly then continuing to eliminate the instrument cluster finish center lower panel along with front No. 2 console box insert, front No. 1 console box insert, and instrument panel finish lower panel. Automatic transaxle vehicles require removal of the transmission control cable assembly while manual transaxle vehicles need both the transmission control cable assembly and the removal of it. The next step is to take out the shift lever assembly from both automatic and manual transaxle devices. Disconnection of the negative battery terminal must occur before the removal process by joining the connector holder lever after unbolting the center Air Bag sensor assembly with 3 bolts.
