Front passenger Air Bag assembly inspection needs to happen right after any collision occurs. After a diagnostic system check for vehicles that have not been in collisions you must consult the Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC Check/Clear protocols. The instrument panel needs replacement with a new one if any defects such as cuts, minute cracks or marked discolorations are found inside the Air Bag area during visual inspection. The removal and installation of front passenger Air Bag assemblies should be conducted precisely during situations when the Air Bag did not deploy. The diagnostic system check needs to be performed again when completed. Inspect the front passenger Air Bag after its removal for defects which include cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration while checking the connector for damage and the instrument panel and its reinforcement for deformation or cracking. Any detected defects need replacement with new parts.

Firmly push in the pins of the clips and mark them to prevent reuse.

Use a thin-bladed screwdriver to release the locking button and disconnect the 2 airbag connectors.

Separate the front door opening trim weatherstrip on both the right and left sides, then remove the front pillar garnish on both sides.
