2008 Scion xD Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to remove the front passenger Air Bag assembly on 2008 Scion xD?
A: The removal of front passenger Air Bag assembly begins with connecting the electrical cable to the negative battery terminal before a 90-second waiting period to avoid Air Bag deployment. The initial step involves putting the front door opening trim Weather Strip apart on both right and left sides before taking off front pillar garnishes from both sides. Start by taking out the instrument cluster finish panel followed by uninstallation of the combination meter assembly and then the instrument cluster finish center panel sub-assembly. It is necessary to remove first the instrument cluster finish panel retainer then the glove compartment door assembly and finally the upper instrument panel. The instrument panel wire assembly disconnection will be finished using a thin-bladed screwdriver to free the locking button and remove the 2 Air Bag connectors. The front passenger Air Bag assembly removal requires eliminating the wire harness from the claw on the instrument panel then unscrewing 2 screws and unhooking 10 screws.
