- Q: How to service and repair the Throttle Position Sensor on Toyota RAV4?A:The maintenance of a Throttle Position Sensor requires starting with the engine coolant drain. Start the VSV for EVAP service by disconnecting the air cleaner hose from the device and removing the hose. The next step requires disconnecting the accelerator cable and removing the throttle body through the removal of the throttle position sensor connector along with the IAC valve connector together with both water bypass hoses and a vacuum hose from the throttle body. You must disconnect the three bolts with a fuel hose clamp then take out the intake manifold throttle body while removing the gasket. Installation requires proper positioning of a new gasket with its protruding feature inside the intake manifold groove while securing it into place. Secure the throttle body along with the fuel hose clamp accordingly by tightening the three bolts to achieve 30 N.m (305 kg/cm and 22 ft.lb). Reconnect the two throttle body water bypass hoses and vacuum hose to the control unit followed by IAC connector and TPS connector. You should connect the accelerator cable while reinstalling the air cleaner hose to complete the VSV for EVAP reconnection process. The engine coolant should be poured into the radiator as the final step of the procedure.
