Use a clockwise motion to move the sensor until it meets the throttle valve shaft before tightening the set screws briefly. Proceed to connect the throttle position sensor connector but prevent connection of the accelerator pedal position sensor connector and establish the toyota hand-held tester or obd II scan tool to the dlc3. Set the ignition switch to ON and observe the throttle valve opening percentage (throttle pos) from the current data screen during adjustment of the sensor to its central standard position. After positioning correctly tighten the screws to 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf) torque specification. Ensure to confirm the throttle valve opening percentage while repeating adjustments if the result falls outside the defined range. Conduct a manual operation of the throttle valve which should demonstrate a percentage between 10 and 14 according to specifications.
