The parking brake cable assembly No. 3 installation starts with connecting the parking brake cable with its clip to the parking brake equalizer before tightening four bolts to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf) simultaneously followed by securing two bolts to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf) at the backing plate. Install the cable assembly No. 1 titled for Automatic Transmission by tightening the adjusting nut called B and the lock nut called A then use 4 A-type nuts two B-type clamps combined with two C-type bolts with Nut A torqued to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf) and Bolt C torqued to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Finish the installation by connecting the cable with clip D alongside the adjusting nut C and lock nut B to the parking brake control pedal torqued to 5.4 Nm The parking brake control pedal gets the cable assembly attached through the clip (labeled D) and adjusting nut (labeled C) and lock nut (labeled B) using a torque of 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf) during which the claw (labeled A) needs bending. Please connect parking brake cable assembly No. 1 (for Manual Transmission) while tightening the adjusting (labeled B) nut and lock nut (labeled A) provisionally before securing the system with 2 nuts (labeled A), 2 clamps (labeled B), and 2 bolts (labeled C) through proper torques of Nut A to 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf) and Bolt C to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). The cable installation requires fitting the parking brake lever portion with the clip followed by proceeding to install the sleeve along with its pin and clip. The service technician must first apply high-temperature grease before installing the rear brake shoe along with the front brake shoe followed by inspection of the rear drum brake installation and its sub-assembly before adjusting the rear drum brake shoe clearance. Drive in the rear wheel by tightening it to 113 Nm (1152 kgf-cm, 83 ft-lbf) and position the parking brake cable joint protector (for Bench Seat Type). The voltage inverter assembly requires 6 bolts for installation where bolt A reaches 7.5 Nm (76 kgf-cm, 66 in-lbf) and bolt B obtains 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 in-lbf). Next, attach the two connectors and secure them with two wire harness clamps. The assembly work includes installation of the center Air Bag sensor together with front console boxes for Automatic and Manual Transmission on Separate and Bench Seat types along with instrument panel cup holder trays for Automatic Transmission on Separate Seat Type and rear console boxes for Separate Seat Type and console upper rear panel sub-assemblies for both Automatic and Manual Transmission on Separate Seat Type. The last installation step is to connect the cable to the negative battery terminal while tightening it to 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 in-lbf). Check the SRS warning light and measure the parking brake pedal travel (for Automatic Transmission) and the parking brake lever travel (for Manual Transmission). Finally, adjust both parking brake components.
