Start services and repairs of Parking Brake Cable Assembly No.3 by disconnecting the cable from the battery then removing both rear wheel and sub-assembly brakes before moving forward. Service and repair the Parking Brake Cable Assembly No.3 by using Special Service Tool: 09718-00010 09921-00010, 09718-00010 to remove brake shoes first and then disassemble the following components for automatic transmission with separate seat type: console upper rear panel sub-assembly, console panel upper rear for manual transmission with separate seat type and console box assembly rear for separate seat type. Start by taking out the voltage inverter assembly with its inverter then follow by taking out the parking brake cable assembly No.3 by removing its 2 backing plate bolts and displacing the assembly bolts while freeing the clip from the parking brake equalizer connection. The parking brake cable assembly Number 3 installation process involves inserting the clip onto the parking brake equalizer before tightening the 4 bolts at 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.) and connecting it to the backing plate through the 2 bolts at 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 inch lbs.). High-temperature grease should be applied before reattaching the rear brake shoe through Special Service Tools: 09718-00010, 09921-00010 09718-00010 and the front brake shoe following this procedure. The process begins with checking the drum brake installation and following it with the rear brake drum sub-assembly installation and moving on to adjusting the rear drum brake shoe clearance. Torque the rear wheel to 113 Nm (1,152 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.) before continuing to check and adjust parking brake travel and reinstalling the voltage inverter as well as the parking brake cable joint protector for bench seats and console box assembly for separate seats. Conclude the installation by mounting the console upper rear panel sub-assembly for automatic transmission models with separate seat type or manually installing the console panel upper rear for manual transmissions with separate seat type while tightening the cable to the battery negative terminal at 3.9 Nm (40 kgf-cm, 35 inch lbs.).

The initial step before removing the parking brake cable is disconnecting the negative side of the battery while waiting 90 seconds to stop Air Bag deployment. Proceed with removing the console upper rear panel sub-assembly for automatic and manual transmissions from distinct seat types before uninstalling the rear console box assembly under the same conditions. The instrument panel cup holder tray together with the front console box must be removed on each transmission type with their distinct and bench seating setup. The subsequent step requires the removal of the center Air Bag sensor assembly and the voltage inverter assembly after disturbing the 6 bolts and detaching the 2 connectors and 2 wire harness clamps. Bench seat owners should remove the parking brake cable joint protector first and afterward eliminate the rear wheel together with the rear brake drum sub-assemblies. Proceed to eliminate both brake shoes from the front and rear sections. To access parking brake cable assembly No. 1 on automatic transmission start by freeing the parking brake then removing the claw before taking out the lock nut and adjusting nut and clip to allow disconnecting of the cable from the parking brake control pedal. To remove the cable disconnect the 4 nuts along with 2 clamps and 2 bolts followed by taking off the lock nut with the adjusting nut and cable from the parking brake equalizer. You must disconnect the parking brake cable from the brake lever by releasing the parking brake lever first followed by clip disengagement to remove the pin before splitting the sleeve. Start by removing 2 nuts combined with 2 clamps and 2 bolts that connect to the cable before taking off the lock nut, adjusting nut and cable from the parking brake equalizer. The third parking brake cable assembly requires removal of 2 bolts followed by disconnecting the cable from the backing plate before removing the 4 bolts from the cable to disengage the clip from the parking brake equalizer.

Install the assembly, provisionally tighten adjusting nut B and lock nut A, secure with 2 nuts A, 2 clamps B, and 2 bolts C, and attach to the parking brake lever assembly.

Attach the parking brake cable with the clip onto the parking brake equalizer and secure it with 4 bolts, torqued to 13 Nm (127 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf). Then, secure it to the backing plate with 2 bolts, torqued to 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf).

Remove the front and rear brake shoes.

Remove the rear wheel, rear brake drum sub-assembly, front brake shoe, and rear brake shoe.

Remove the parking brake cable joint protector, followed by the rear wheel and rear brake drum sub-assembly.
