Use professional safety equipment when disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery and observe a 90-second wait time to avoid Air Bag activation. Detach the console upper rear panel for automatic and manual transmissions on their individual seat types before taking out the rear console box package for both configurations. Remove the instrument panel cup holder tray along with the front console box from each transmission type when separating them between each seat type. The bench seat type requires removal of its center Air Bag sensor assembly and both voltage inverter assembly and parking brake cable joint protector. The procedure requires removal of rear wheel and rear brake drum sub-assembly together with front and rear brake shoes. The procedure for disassembly of the parking brake cable assembly No. 1 (automatic transmission) requires releasing the parking brake and following steps to detach the cable from the parking brake control pedal. Unfasten the 4 nuts A and 2 clamps B and 2 bolts C on the cable before extracting lock nut A along with adjusting nut B and the cable from the parking brake equalizer. The parking brake cable separation from the lever needs the manual transmission driver to first release the lever then perform clip disengagement followed by pin removal and sleeve separation. Disassemble by removing both A nuts, two clamps B and two bolts C followed by cable removal from the equalizer together with components A lock nut and B adjusting nut. The procedure for parking brake cable assembly No. 3 begins by removing 2 bolts before disconnecting the cable from the backing plate followed by unscrewing 4 bolts to disengage the clip for disconnecting from the equalizer. Installation begins with mounting parking brake cable assembly No. 3 to its equalizer with its clip after which secure it using 4 bolts tightened to 13 Nm and 2 bolts tightened to 8.0 Nm onto the backing plate. Begin with installing parking brake cable assembly No. 1 for automatic transmission by tightening adjusting nut B and lock nut A first and then securing with 4 nuts A, 2 clamps B, and 2 bolts C (Nut A torque: 6.0 Nm; Bolt C torque: 13 Nm). You should attach the cable by securing first clip D followed by adjustments of nut C and B to the parking brake control pedal with 13 Nm torque before bending claw A. The installation process for manual transmission begins with temporarily tightening adjusting nut B and lock nut A then moving to secure the parts with two nuts A and two clamps B together with two bolts C (use a torque of 6.0 Nm for Nut A and 13.0 Nm for Bolt C). Subsequently, attach the cable to the parking brake lever using the clip and install the sleeve with pin and clip. High-temperature grease should be applied before installing the rear brake shoe and front brake shoe. A complete examination of the rear drum brake must be done before installing the sub-assembly. Adjust the clearance setting for the rear drum brake shoes before putting on the rear wheel which requires application of 113 Nm torque. An installation process exists to reinstall the parking brake cable joint protector for bench seat types together with the voltage inverter assembly (w/Voltage Inverter), center Air Bag sensor assembly and front console boxes which apply to both transmission types and separate and bench seat configurations.
