First, pull out the controls for heating and cooling, then take off the instrument panel and radio. Disconnect and mark every power cord so you can easily put everything back the right way. Take out both the warm air ducts (No. 1 and No. 4). Unscrew the ceiling cover above the glove compartment. If your car has an airbag, take out its electrical connection. Then remove the bolts that keep the glove compartment reinforcement in place. For Tacoma, take off two panel bolts and remove two panel nuts, but for 4Runner, just one nut and two bolts are needed, along with taking out clips at the window base. Installation is the reverse of removal.
